We add new sites / profiles by selecting a pre-made template. The pre-made templates are in fact complete sites in their own right with all the settings and design we need. The templates have to be assigned a source site which acts as a preset. Once we have setup a site to work in a particular way we can assign this site to a template. If this template is then selected when adding a new site then a replica will be made of the source site.
