We define a hub as a grouping of web sites / profiles / stores / businesses brought all together under one central management control. This central management role can access any member of the hub, add new accounts, delete accounts and manage the central container site that visibly groups the satellite sites together.

The container site could be a shopping centre displaying the shops as the satellite sites or profiles in a social network. Each satellite site / profile having their own login and managing their own space on the site. There are many examples on how a hub could be used in the real world!
